MAGADAN CITY: SCHOOL NUMBER ONE

The famous school number 1 now do not exist in my Magadan. This building from the far and tragical for Russia year 1937, the first house of knowledge for the young Magadanians, was destroyed completely about 10 years ago during the so-called Russian reforms. Nothing to be surprised about: now, in the year 2004, the planned money for education in the independent Russia is equal to 4.4% of the year budget. This shameful percent is approximately 6 times less, than the year money-2004 for the Russian police and the organization named FSB - the child of dreadfully famous Soviet KGB and grandchild of the legendary Stalin's NKVD. New Russia does not need in scientists and teachers: thousands of them now have to survive on the salary less than 200 $ for a month. Our  educational system, one of the best in the world, is slowly destroyed by reforms and poverty. The school number one does not exist. But we are existing: its graduates of the year 1971, the ordinary schoolyear with his historical number 34.

Our destiny has thrown us within the whole world: my point, city Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, Mexico seems to be the most far one. And now each of us can only dream about our meeting once more - with smiles, kisses and singing of our old school song about our returning here, in our Magadan one day together...   WISHING IT TO BE REAL - AT LEAST FOR SOME OF US.
